SCAD-eLearning staff members assist students with all aspects of distance learning. They serve as a link between SCAD-eLearning students and the SCAD community by striving to nurture an active and resourceful group of SCAD-eLearning students and bridging the gap between the college and students living across the country and around the world.
Staff members are available to answer questions, suggest resources and help connect students to people at the college who can best meet their needs. Peer tutoring and
career services events also are hosted online for SCAD-eLearning students.
SCAD-eLearning students have the opportunity to benefit from being part a digital community that provides a forum where distance-learning students can participate in the life of the college. Through
MySCAD, students access the online student center and the eLearning services channel, where they can read announcements, get the latest college news, participate in discussion forums, create Web postings and access a wide range of college resources.
SCAD-eLearning students bring experience and skills to the college that help round out a rich learning experience. The SCAD-eLearning Club, which meets approximately every month, allows distance learning students to meet via the college’s online meeting software and view featured speakers from the college and the professional world. Club participation strengthens the digital community, bringing students located across the country and around the globe closer to the college and SCAD events. Online students are encouraged to communicate and socialize with their peers via course discussions, e-mail and the SCAD-eLearning Club in order to form lasting friendships and networks.
The Cyber Bees is the online community center for SCAD-eLearning students where they can find fellow students with whom to collaborate on projects, exchange ideas and form friendships while outside the online classroom. Timely information and upcoming events are posted in CyberBees so students have ready access to news about SCAD-eLearning Club meetings and other events that involve students enrolled in SCAD-eLearning courses.
SCAD-eLearning offers the Virtual Lecture Hall, a digital video library of events, lectures, and and workshops that take place at campus locations. SCAD On Demand also gives students access to webcasts, podcasts and other online-based media of signature events such as the
Savannah Film Festival, the annual
fashion show, and the
Sand Arts Festival. A variety of
student media outlets also are accessible online.
