Scholarship Opportunities

Through the office of admission, Savannah College of Art and Design administers a number of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships for entering students. To be awarded a scholarship, students must apply and be accepted to the college and must request consideration for an institutional scholarship award through the Application for Scholarship or Fellowship (PDF -- 65K). Scholarships are available to both United States citizens and international students and are awarded to entering students prior to first-quarter attendance.

Scholarships and fellowships are awarded to degree-seeking students, are applied quarterly, and may be renewed annually until completion of a degree (90 hours for the M.A.) as long as the recipient is enrolled and maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Scholarships are normally awarded to students enrolled full-time. SCAD-eLearning scholarship recipients may have their award pro-rated to the highest number of classes in which the student is enrolled each term.

Scholarship for Educators

Educators who are employed full-time at the time of application and who teach at the kindergarten through college level at a public or private institution recognized by the applicant’s state department of education may be eligible to receive a scholarship/fellowship for half the amount of SCAD’s tuition. To be eligible, an educator must apply and be accepted to SCAD, must request scholarship consideration, and must provide proof of employment and good standing from his or her school administrator or human resources department. For more information, contact the admission office.

SCAD and Atlanta College of Art and Design Fellowships

Fellowships of $250 per course, with a maximum of $3,000 per year, are awarded to SCAD and Atlanta College of Art alumni who apply and are accepted into any SCAD-eLearning graduate program. Alumni also may qualify for additional fellowships based on artistic and academic honors and federal financial aid.

The application fee and $500 matriculation fee are waived for SCAD and ACA alumni accepted into SCAD-eLearning graduate programs, and SCAD transcripts may be requested by the admission office at no charge.

Employer-sponsored Tuition Assistance

Many corporations and organizations offer tuition assistance to their employees for furthering their education. In some instances the corporation or organization reimburses the employee for 100 percent of the tuition charged. Programs and policies vary among employers. Students should consult their personnel offices to find out more about the programs that may be available to them. They are expected to pay the tuition prior to beginning classes. The college will submit any documentation necessary to process the reimbursement upon receipt of appropriate forms or instructions.

Companies for Education Scholarship
Many employers offer tuition assistance to employees who seek to improve themselves through further education. The SCAD Companies for Education scholarship provides additional assistance of one-fourth of the tuition cost.

To be eligible, an employee must apply and be accepted to SCAD and provide proof of the employer's commitment to provide tuition assistance. The award is renewable, provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale each quarter. Recipients are expected to assume a positive student leadership role by excelling in classes, by contributing to a sense of community and unity within the college, and by interacting with other students and employees of the college in a courteous, cooperative manner. The award amounts are disbursed equally to each quarter's tuition.
